This patient lost over 85 pounds after her laparoscopic gastric sleeve procedure. This left her with a lower abdominal apron of excess tissue and residual adiposity that caused skin ulcerations, rashes, and infections. She underwent a functional panniculectomy, or amputation of the lower abdominal tissues to rid the overhang. This was not a cosmetic operation or tummy tuck (no muscle tightening or belly button movement), and no liposuction was performed. She is seen here 4 months postoperatively after removal 3.54kg or 7.7 pounds of tissue.
